Move day!

The time has finally come for my chickens to move into their new coop!

Look at these cuties

It has been a long and HOT few days getting this coop ready. I thought on the island we would have some few days in the summer that it was humid. Ha ha ha ha, I laugh at the statement. I now know what true humidity feels like. I guess my skin should look 10 years younger. 😉

We got all the fencing up around the run. We followed the shade while doing this job. This picture was probably taking around noon. So until we build a covered area off the coop, I will need to get a pop-up shade cover for them. And of course I need to start thinking of some fun toy ideas first the run area.

Mark got my automatic door opener on the coop and it works great. Just need to do a little touch up with some caulk and paint.

Then today we tackled the netting on top of the run. Mark got me started but I will pat myself on the back, I did most of this by myself.😅

I actually moved my guineas last night into the brooder. They have a few more days in there and then I’m going to release them out with the flock.

Coop is ready! More to come tomorrow with the news how the move went.

I hope everyone enjoyed their day of freedom yesterday! God bless America! 🇺🇸

Great job guys!! Watch your guineas. They will go into the coup at night but when it comes to laying, they will find a bushy area. We actually left some bushes in a safe area by the barns for them. They are great at hiding unless you have coyotes. The nose on those monsters can sniff out anything hiding. Oh, one more helpful note – watch a mom with her babies. She will drag them through taller grassy areas to help them learn to eat and hide, but she will also leave the laggers behind. Several times I would find a baby then have to carry it back to her brood.
