Pond day…

I hope I capture this right. We had an awesome young gentleman come over with his excavator to open up a couple of our ponds so that they drain properly. They have been neglected for years. Plus those nasty little beavers have been building dams and their dens.

We now have some water flowing through this culvert.

We then moved on to the second pond and the beaver den.

We have water flowing! Now onto the beaver den.

This poor beaver worked on this den for months and it is now gone in 5 minutes. But these animals are very destructive and take down very healthy trees. After the removal of its den a few minutes later, he poked his head out of the water and Mark was able to get a good shot at him and of course you know the ending.

We then moved back to the first culvert. With the excavator we were able to stick a small tree through the culvert to help clean it out. Now look at the water flowing through.

It was a great day!

I know you two are working hard, but if/when you manage a break – check this out for me:

Mountain Shire Hobbit Village with Tiny Homes!

It is in TN and I am wondering if it really does look like Hobbit Houses – LOL. I just love watching how you two work together so well – kudos!!

I also wish you would not have killed the beaver. We had one on our property and it was dumb and blocked off Beaver Creek (aptly named) to shift more water to our pond. A neighbor came by and told us (we don’t go down there much anymore) and asked if he could get rid of the dam. We said OK cuz we don’t want to block our friends from getting their share of water. HOWEVER, later I learned more about these beauties and wish we would have had it moved instead of killed. Check this out:
