It’s a new week

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is having a great day. We have had a few hot days and will continue all this week. What is awesome, we get those short thunderstorms that role thru. So Mark and I try to get things done in the morning and we hibernate in the afternoon.

Today we started working on expanding our Chicken run behind the coop to give the girls shade in the morning. Currently they come out of the coop for an hour or two and then hang inside the coop until about noon and then shade comes over my run and then they start moving out. They must really love my coop. So we’re going to put in another door on the backside that leads into that run which extends into the full run. Today we got all the fencing done. Tomorrow morning, we will work on the overhead netting and then installing the chicken door.

So as I am typing this post, the run is in full shade. I have two cute little Polish chickens hanging outside and the rest are all inside the coop.

One in the shit shelf!

Mark has been on a mission the last several days. Our ponds are overrun with snapping turtles. These turtles are not good for having fish or ducks/geese in your ponds. So unfortunately for those of you that are soft hearted, Mark has been on the hunting mission. The trap he built would not catch them. As of today, he is up to 40 snapping turtles. We did try different avenues to let people know that they could have these turtles in order to eat them. We really didn’t get much response so the turkey vultures are enjoying their cuisine.

Here is one of my turkeys getting a better view. 🤦🏼‍♀️
